Not durable - leaked on 2nd trip

Bought this last July. Took it trekking in Sweden for a few days. All was good. It then went into storage, was used for a couple of days at a campsite. The next time I came to use it, it was leaking around the inlet valve. Cue very uncomfortable night's sleep and a trip to a store to purchase an alternative. As shame as it's a nice mat. Perhaps a problem is that its bag - which is roomy enough - isn't great for the valve design; folding the mat in such a way as to get it rolled into the size of the bag can easily put too much pressure on the valve, perhaps. I'm not sure as I can't see exactly where the leak is - just a suspricion, as it clearly isn't damaged through misuse or being used a lot.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to review our Trek 700 Air XL inflatable mattress. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with this mattress, and I hope that you managed to find a solution when you returned to the store.

Thank you for the feedback with regards to packing the mattress away and possibly damaging the valve, it is something we will investigate when we are developing the future models of this product. Obviously the risk of deflation is the big disadvantage of a product of this type, so it is important to get this right!

Thanks again,

Regards

So far can't fault it

As a cheaply priced airbed for temperate conditions, this works very well. Quick and easy to inflate/deflate and pack away. Compact and lightweight when packed. Sleeping bag doesn't slide off, and a good size for taller people. And best of all, very comfortable. How durable it is, only time will tell, but has a 2 year warranty. If it doesn't start leaking, I'm very happy with this and happily recommend it.

Fragile/insufficient valve sealing

First one was returned for a faulty seal (wouldn't hold the air pressure) and the second suffers the same after x2 trips. I'd suggest that push-seal valve system is too fragile and not up to the rigours of extended backpacking. Will be replacing with something more reputable/trusted. Nothing worse than sleeping directly on the floor.

Comfortable, very small and light to pack

I bought this to take to a festival rather than taking my air bed. The previous year the air bed had been like sleeping on a bubble of cold air, so I was looking for something with an R value. I also like to pack as light as possible, so decided to purchase this over a SIM. It took up very little space in my rucksack, took about 20 breaths to inflate, and was extremely comfortable and warm to sleep on. Although I am only 164cm I bought the XL version because I am a side sleeper. It didn't have any issues with losing air, but I did let some out in the morning and topped it up again before I went to bed, purely because it was very hot during the day and I wanted to avoid any issues with expansion. I used it for 5 very comfortable nights. It went back into its bag perfectly, although it took me about 5 minutes to get it right. Highly recommended.

Good product

Light. Easy to install. Easy to storage.

Fails to stay inflated

Absolutely brilliant sleeping pad for a short time. Easy to inflate and very comfortable. I got maybe 10 uses out of it and was chuffed with it. But now it deflates with no obvious puncture and no way of fixing it. Very disappointed

Comfortable

The size is perfect to use. Very light. Easy to carry. The color is also very nice. Very good product!

Comfortable

The size is big enough for one person. Very easy to inflate and deflate. The weight is very light. Very suitable for hiking. Recommend!

Great matt but impossible to get the air OUT of it

Had anyone got any advice on how on earth to get the air out of this thing to put it away? Because it is so well compartmentalised with the gaps between the tubes so narrow and just the one air value, it is incredibly difficult to get the air out of. I have been trying for 10mins now. Not very practical for a hiking trip where you'll be folding it up every morning.

Great for camping on a motorcycle

very compact, very light and comfy.

Good night sleep

I've been using it for 4 months. Very comfy and had a good night sleep on it. The only problems is, it start to have minor leakage at the seams as i will lose out some of the air overnight. Since it came with 2 years warranty, I'll replace it when it's getting worse. Recommended product.

Volume and folded size

Folded dimensions Ø 10.5 cm x 28 cm.Volume: 2.4 litres.Weights, volumes & dimensions may vary slightly due to production tolerances.

Thermal protection and heat

Since the beginning of 2020, a new standard has been validated to assess the level of insulation of your mattress: standard ASTM F3340-18.This standard measures the capacity of the mattress to retain or return body heat in order to avoid its loss and therefore provide you with thermal comfort.R-Value standard ASTM F3340-18 mattress Trek 700 air: 1.6 (measured by an independent laboratory)

The higher the R-Value, the more the mattress insulates you from the cold ground.- R-value from 0 to 1.9: mattress designed for use in warm season (summer) only- from 2 to 3: mattress design for use in 2 or 3 seasons (spring/summer/autumn)- from 3 to 4: 4 season mattress, winter use possible- higher than 4.5: winter use and extreme conditions

Product test

The sleep comfort, also called "postural comfort", of our mattresses is defined by our R&D centre. All our mattresses are subjected to mechanical tests to assess their performance and durability and ensure you enjoy a good night's sleep and an excellent recovery. We also carry out numerous field tests in real-life conditions.Postural comfort is an extremely personal thing. You can adjust the pressure of your mattress.

Sleeping comport, support

To prevent your sleeping bag from slipping on your mattress, the silicone patches must be placed in contact with the sleeping bag.

Eco-design

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce the impact on the environment, we have decided to change the upper component on this product. We use a "bi-ton" component, meaning only one out of every two threads is dyed. This dyed yarn is also made from a bulk dyeing process which incorporates the colour pigments from the yarn manufacturing phase onwards.

Eco-design (continued)

This process reduces the CO2 emissions of this product by 8% compared to the older model.

Repair

An inflatable mattress is not puncture-proof but it can be repaired! For outdoor use, as much care as possible should be paid to its set-up and handling. You can repair your mattress with the following kit: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/kit-of-6-self-adhesive-repair-patches-for-inflatable-mattresses/_/R-p-311504?mc=8557113It has the same features and performance while minimising your environmental impact.
