Lite weight and versatile

Used this on a 900km hike, no broken zips or buckles. Good for cabin hiking but too small for camping. A 50l version would be perfect for camping.

Overall a good bag. very comfy. its a shame they don't sell it in a 50L or 60L size. Sadly the rain cover did not fit the bag once it was packed it didn't even come close. The load adjustment straps at the shoulders would slowly work their way loose and need adjustment every couple of miles. For a long dry day hike this would be a perfect bag to carry more than everything you need including a cook system. Due to the rain cover not fitting i did return this item

Excellent back pack

This backpack is really good quality and great value for money, I especially like the angled side pockets for drinks that allow for easy access without having to take the backpack off.

Delighted with this rucksack so far

Did lots of research and didn't want to spend a fortune on something that might not be quite right. This ticked every box except the ice-axe loop (which I can fashion myself somehow. So it's light, the smaller size fits me perfectly. I've done two days so far of hill walking in Scotland and this sack has made life so much easier. I particularly like the pole loops and the easy to open hip pockets where I store my phone and snacks. Other features include: - water bladder facility; - pole loop (all sacks should have this - it's such a simple idea) - big zip for easy access to bottom of sack - mesh pocket for stuffing quick access stuff like gloves and hat - side pocket - easy to access water bottle pockets (brilliant, saves taking off your sack) - rain cover The only negatives are: - the lack of ice-axe loop which surprises me as they've thought of everything else. It does have two small loops at the bottom but not big enough for an ice axe however you could easily fit an extra belt to accommodate one. - there is a side pocket only on one side. Not a huge issue as there are so many other places to stuff things but in the interests of symmetry it wouldn't be difficult to put one on both sides - there may of course be a valid reason I've only used it as a day sack so far but I think I'd be able to sling a tent under the sack and use it for wild camping and DofE as long as I wasn't away too long. It really does punch above it's weight. I note other reviews have hinted at it's robustness. I suppose that's the compromise for getting one this light but it's guaranteed for ten years so I can live with that.

Fill it to the max

It's a big bag. You can put loads of suff in it, strap it to your back and take all the stuff up a hill for the day. It's got different pockets for different things and straps do up quite tight which is good cause it means the bag doesn't fall off. 5 stars!

Very much impressed by the attention to detail and quality of this pack. The materials feel sturdy, and everything from the placement of pockets to the way the top drawstring opens were well thought out. I took this for an overnight hike that was very wet and muddy. It was comfortable to carry and withstood the weather very well. It looks almost new after I just wiped off some of the mud with a damp cloth. My only quibble would be that the rain cover should be detachable. Also the small zip pocket gets in the way of the hydration sleeve. It was quite cool on my hike so I didn’t fully test the ventilation, but I didn’t notice it was particularly hot to carry.

I had the previous model, but after 2.5 years of stomping around Singapore with it, the hip belt had started to part from the main bag. I took it to the City Square Store, and the lads there replaced it with this new model without hesitation. Fantastic service. Anyway, overall the bag is an improvement: the hip belt is one, continuous piece, well padded and seems sturdy. It's very much like my old, beloved Osprey Stratos; there is an elasticated pocket at the side that takes big bottles at an angle, so it'll be easy to take them out n put them back; the lid fastens to only one buckle and the excellent, elasticated front pocket has no buckle. This means there are far fewer dangly bits. The previous version of the bag had an external vs internal frame on the current bag, and you had to adjust length of your bag to the length of your back. The new bag has an internal frame with no size adjustment, so you have to buy the bag that best suits you. The material feels tougher, but ask me again in 2.5 years time. Oh and you still get a rain cover - that's quite useful here...My only tiny gripe, is that the internal zip pocket is much narrower; so, for example, I cant fit in my spare mask for those times I forget to take one with me and am caught short...

10-year guarantee

We take care over abrasion resistance to make your bag durable. The heavy clothing R&D department, a Quechua partner for the research and validation of its components and assemblies, performs tests (on components, seams and the finished product) simulating the ageing of backpacks.Their results allow us to guarantee the bags tested for 10 years from the purchase date shown on the receipt.

Don't throw it, fix it!

Our products will join you on your mountain walks. As you progress, they age, and some parts can get worn or break. To make repairs easier, in the "Bag accessories / hiking trekking", we sell tightening buckles and chest clips that are compatible with your bag. Don't throw away, repair !

What differences are there with the old mh500 bag?

The back of this new bag has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the damp back effect. This net used for the back, called mesh, is also softer than previously. What's more, this new model comes in 2 sizes for small and large sizes. The 2 hip pockets are more spacious and stretchy and access to flask on the sides is easier.

Which size should i choose?

During several field test sessions with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 litres, the difference in comfort was mainly down to the back height of the bag. We therefore offer all our models in 2 sizes to meet these requirements. If you are taller than 170 cm, go for size L. If you are shorter than 170 cm, you will be better off with a size S.

This bag can hold 1 litre, 2 litre or 3 litre pockets. However, although the pocket is voluminous, it will take up place that could be used for storing other belongings. The side pockets are designed for flasks of maximum 1 litre.

Why are our rain covers orange?

This is a deliberate choice as we believe it's important to stay visible in the mountains, even in fog, in case of any problem. This orange colour has the advantage of being visible from a helicopter. It's also a visible colour on the road if you use your bag when cycling.

Hand luggage

When you are travelling by plane, the authorised hand luggage size is 55x35x25cm3 maximum (warning, this can vary depending on the airline). This bag can be used as hand luggage, so long as you don't load the top too much.

How to pack my backpack?

AT THE BOTTOM of the bag, pack your sleeping material, and heavy material nearer the back. Slide your water pocket into the compartment.AT THE TOP of the bag, store your waterproof jacket and fleece within arm’s reach. In the pockets, you can put your sun cream, maps, cap and sunglasses. Cereal bars or your mobile phone can be stored in the belt pockets for quick access. The straps under the bag can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How do i adjust my backpack?

1 - Loosen all the straps: shoulder straps, belt, load-adjuster straps (these are the small straps above the shoulder straps)2 - Put on the bag.3 - Close the bag's belt, positioning it at the hips then tighten it until it feels firmly in place4 - Tighten the bag’s shoulder straps5 - Tighten the chest strap (not too tight to affect breathing)6 - Adjust the load-adjuster straps (the bag will cling closely to the shoulders)

How to care for and wash a rucksack?

We recommend hand-washing your rucksack. Use soapy, lukewarm water, possibly with a brush, focusing on the areas in contact with the body (shoulder straps, back, waist belt), where you have perspired. This is the best way for the fabric properties to be maintained, in particular the waterproofness. Then rinse well with lukewarm water, dry in a dry place away from direct sunlight (no radiator). Store in a dry place.
