Big price rise

Great jacket but wow. 25% price increase from 39.99 to 49.99 is a bit much. It was really good value before, now its approaching the price of branded jackets. I notice the price on decathlon.fr is 50 euro. Bit disappointing to see Decathlon doing this. I appreciate prices rise but 25%?

disappointing

It was good until I washed it. Followed the washing instructions to the letter and... boom all the feathers ended up on the one side of the jacket,

A must Buy

Now that I’ve tested this jacket in zero degree Celsius I cannot recommend this jacket highly enough. A very light and well made jacket that should have the larger brand names worried. I came across a review by accident and looked further into the spec and was amazed. At this price I thought I’d take a gamble and WOW did that gamble pay off. A MUST BUY for anyone, whether for going to the shops, walking the dog or heading into the hills. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Amazing! Only good thing to come out of 2020.

For the money this jacket is truly amazing. I bought mine in the 16th of December 2020 and have used it through this last snowy, rainy, freezing winter in an “already rainy and cold Manchester!”. It was the only positive that came out of 2020! It’s warm, comfy, durable and I regularly wore this coat with just a T-shirt at 0 to 1c and I was fine. With proper laying I have no doubt it will be fine in -5c as advertised. I have also wore it under my Barbour wax jacket to keep me warm and it performed brilliantly. I also like the cuffs as they have an overlap that sits over your gloves and doesn’t let the cold in. Couple of cons that won’t decrease my star rating!...where is the hood/neck cinch Decathlon...where? Sizing- I went in for a dark Blue XXL and it didn’t fit so I tried the green XXL and it fit me like a dream...I have no words to why this was the case but it’s annoying but it’s not the jackets fault! It isn’t waterproof because it’s not a rain jacket but will bead off small amounts of rain...small! So 100% worth a sub £40 punt! Remember...It’s not a top of the range down jacket but I could buy 6 of these for what my main down jacket cost and I don’t think I’ll ever be without a trek 100 jacket on my coat hook!

Fantastic lightweight jacket!

This has to be the warmest lightweight jacket I have ever owned. The heat retention and warmth are fantastic- great for everyday use and can be stowed away easily.

Forget your expensive brands

Five stars because it rocks all the boxes. Very good at regulating heat. The stats are correct in that it will keep you warm in a -5 wind chill. It will also keep you comfortable on a 5 degree temperature. VERY light weight - my reason for buying. Personally I bought it for wildcamping but have been wearing it non stop because it's so versatile. Highly recommended

Down Jacket

For the price this is an excellent jacket, very warm and lightweight

Great but sizing a bit small

Sizing is a bit smaller than previous Decathlon down jackets, I have a Quechua Xlight which is size S but in this jacket had to take the M as it was too tight so definately size up or be disappointed! Other than that we'll put together and nice fit. I have the lighter blue version and it looks great.

Absolutely fantastic.

Good buy at great price. And keeps warmer than envisaged. Only problem is the space in the hood (between the chin and hood bottom) is much and let's cold air in.

Decent for the price

My only complaint is that the hood isn’t snug - in windy conditions it doesn’t fit tight. I tried a much more expensive brand before buying this and that ones hood was snug

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind.We have also tested this model in "static" mode; the comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports:- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers- Ultra low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack- Ultra-compressible

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. For this down jacket with its 85% down/15% feathers filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 CUIN or more (European standard).

What is rds certification?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organisation to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from geese and ducks raised for their meat and slaughtered before down and feathers are collected. To find out more: https://www.forclaz.co.uk/what-is-rds-certification

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow our guidance by copying the link below:https://www.forclaz.co.uk/how-should-i-look-after-my-down-jacketIn summary:1/ machine wash, 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle.2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

How to repair your fleece?

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired so the tear doesn’t get any bigger or to stop the feathers from escaping.Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Our in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it.This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The material of this down jacket is water-repellent; we recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over it in the event of prolonged exposure to rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use.We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How do i reactivate the waterproofing properties?

After washing your padded jacket, we recommend that you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabrichttps://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/fabric-waterproofing-liquid-250-ml/_/R-p-308192It restores the water-repellent properties of the fabric and optimises the performance of your garment throughout its lifetime.
