I cannot believe this is a Decathlon product. There is no central pole to keep the pitch of the roof and the guy ropes, being only two thirds of the way up the external inflatable poles cannot keep it pulled taught enough. The end result is that it pools water on the roof until it's so heavy it collapses in on itself. Returned for a refund
We bought this to go on our VW T5 , and wanted ease of use which it is undoubtedly. I’ve used it a few times and it’s fine in dry weather . The last outing was extremely wet and it wasn’t up to the job , Rain came through the roof into the tent . Having said that it’s worth the money and I will continue to use it lots of good features well designed. I have removed the ground sheet too .
Fantastic value for money. We use it as an awning for our camper van. Can be erected in less than 5 minutes so great for just the one night away and seems very durable. There are two poles that expand the ceiling. Make sure you expand them as far as possible then there are no problems with any sagging roof others have mentioned. We bought a skirt to go along the sill of the van, this eliminates and drafts so you could sleep in it.
Attached to my VW T5 perfectly, camped for a full week, I found an inner tent that fitted to the cross beams to double up as a tent, so quick to put up and unbelievable value, well impressed.
Excellent value for money,so quick to set up ,would highly recommend
This extra living space is so good, it goes up in minutes, lay down footprint, peg each corner, inflate!! A few more pegs for guy ropes etc and mid points, lay carpet inside, job done. The price for such a great item is exceptional. I have recently purchased a Kampa Gale 12V Air pump, I set it at 6.5psi and it’s even quicker than the manual pump, cost £48. As yet Decathlon don’t do an electric pump, I’m sure they will in the future. As I font have much space for extra items, the Electric pump is smaller than the manual Decathlon one, so that helps a little.
We purchased this, as we saw another campervan with one at a campsite in Porlock. We were so impressed with the speed that it went up, but more importantly, the ease that it went up! We were battered and blown as we put ours up, all guy ropes out, and filling up like a hot air balloon before take off!! It took them 15 minutes from getting it out of the camper, to finishing the last peg! When it came time to take it down, they started after we did and drove off before we were even in the bagging stage! We used this for the first time a couple of weekends back, and it's the dog's dangly bits! Watched the video on how to take it down twice, and got it in the bag perfectly, first time!! It's sturdy, it's strong, it's got enough doors to make a rock band, it's got poles to make the door a porch, it's got windows and fly mesh, and best of all, when you zip up the door and drive away, the thing just stands there like a rock at Stonehenge!! Nice one Decathlon, this is a brilliant bit of kit, for not a lot of money!!
We bought the shelter to use as an extension to our Air Seconds 5.2xl tent. It faired very well, although it was a little fiddly to erect, given that it's meant to be an independent shelter, not an extension to the tent. It gave us some much needed extra space which was useful for cooking in. The weekend we chose to test it out was extremely windy and we were worried that both the tent and shelter might not cope, but I think the lack of sewn in groundsheet actually helped as both stood up well to the extreme conditions. I think we’ll erect it separately to the tent next time, if only for aesthetic reasons and to help prevent us and the dog constantly tripping over the crossed guy-lines. It could do with a few more anchor points and guy-lines, in my opinion, so I plan to use clingons and short bungees to peg it down more. All in all, we’re very happy with it and can’t wait until our next camping trip.
Really pleased with the awning, so easy and quick to erect, just spent two weeks in Cornwall, rain, thunderstorms and fierce winds and she didn’t budge. Considering the price we think it’s excellent value for money. We have a campervan so it’s great to sit in at night and gives us the extra space we need. We have even slept in it which isn’t great as it is so light in the morning. Would definitely recommend, great value
The poles for this shelter are too thin and too long. I have 2 defective poles now one is bent and the other the threads have gone where you tighten the extendable piece up. None available to purchase and as the item is a few months out of warranty Decathlon are not interested in doing any thing to help so I now have a shelter I can not use. Avoid this product and company as both are useless.
Super piece of kit, bought as we wanted something quick and easy to put up next to our motorhome. It is so quick and easy to put up and put down. Stands up to high winds. I was worried about the review of the rain pooling ( we haven’t experienced that yet) however we bought an expandable shower curtain rail and put it at the top as an extra pole, seems to work a treat. Decathlon perhaps 3 poles would have prevented any pooling in the middle. It certainly makes it very sturdy. Really pleased mainly with the convenience of it. Wouldn’t sleep in it, it’s not a sealed ground sheets but superb as a shelter.
Bought for our trip to the new forest, on one of the days it rained whilst we were out. When we got back it had collapsed. In the middle where the 2 poles are the rain had collected there and down it went with a complete flood on the inside. Took back to the store and got told we didnt peg it out correctly. I have been camping for 30years I think I know how to put up a tent and how to peg it out. after half an hour of arguing got my money back but no consolation for the loss of my electric camp fridge
As expected, a great product. A little silicon spray on the zips helped but other than that no problems other than the slow delivery. Use it to connect to my long wheelbase Ford transit custom, was so good my mate bought the identical product for his Vauxhall Van, can join both units together to form large living space.
I would have given 5 stars but for the pegs on the windward side pulling out during stormy weather and that side collapsing with the cross bar falling out also. Repegged using yellow plasic pegs which did not pull out, will be getting the longer version to make sure they do not pull out again. Also had to put more air in after it collapsed, the temperature had dropped which was probably the reason for this. Other than that loved it! Worked really well as an awning for my Berlingo and "community centre" for the rwo other tents with me.
Just back from the most recent of three trips with the base seconds xl this year (six in total since purchase in June 2017). On each we've had conditions varying from high Atlantic winds (Scotland nc500) torrential rain (France) to heavy wing AND rain (Langdale, Lakes). We use it as a dining shelter, crawling space for our baby and toddler, and also extra sleeping space alongside our campervan. It is absurdly simply to erect and disassemble, a real plus if, like me, you have to intermittently chase children. The pegs supplied are perfectly serviceable but I'd like to get some decent stakes, as in a heavy rain laying the guys at a good angle is essential to keep the water from pooling between the two roof poles and spoiling the head. We had to collapse it once in Clachtoll (nc500) due to force 5-6 winds which threatened to blow it away, but it should be noted that this is a relatively simple shelter not designed to take the abuse that has been thrown at it. That it has survived this year intact and weatherproof in such extreme conditions is amazing and speaks volumes about the quality of materials used considering the low price point. A (very) weatherproof and flexible living space that works perfectly in tandem with a campervan.

We test our living rooms to validate their waterproofing. The first test is conducted in the lab – 4 hours under 200 litres per hour per sqm of water, which is equivalent to a tropical shower (200 mm of water per hour). The second test is conducted in the field under real-life conditions by our teams. This tent has a polyurethane-coated polyester flysheet with a 2000 mm waterproof rating. It also has seams taped using heat-sealed strips and a 190 g/sqm polyethylene groundsheet.
