Fantastic design and value

Too early to know how these will last, but after 2 full days in the mountains with trekking poles these gloves seem absolutely brilliant. Sizing spot on for me, so pleased I'm ordering a couple more pairs, one a size up for winter use with liners.

Winter gloves

Only wore them once so far to try them on, good fit and seem warm

Excellent 3 season trekking glove (+ winter town)

Really good bit of kit. I lost my original pair and replaced immediately, probably too quickly in fact, the first pair turned up! For me they are the perfect compromise between warmth and dexterity for most of the year. One of the few gloves I've owned I can leave when I need to do something with my hands. I used to get really badly chapped hands over winter but no more. Trekking they are great as they are light, windproof, not too bulky and take up relatively little room in my bag. Even when wet they act like a wetsuit and help keep your hands warm. Cycling they are windproof, protect your hands should you come off (although they are not designed for that) and you can operate your gears and brakes with ease. In the garden they protect my hands from blisters and its so easy to just throw them in the wash if they get dirty. For general commuting they look smart, you can throw into your coat packet without making you look like you've gained 5lb and they want stop you undoing the zip to get your wallet out. I wear mine all through the winter generally, but below about 3 degrees I may start feeling a little cool, but still bearable. When it gets down to zero I'll switch them out for my Sealskinz, but they where £60 and I only really have use for them for two few weeks each year as these do the other 50! Trekking they are a joy as they take up very little space and weigh very little.

Comfortable, fairly tight although slightly stretchy but that helps with the finger touch to a phone.

Decent Gloves

My first pair arrived with loose stitching on the link loop. The gloves were also smaller (S size) than I expected, so I requested a size up for the replacement. Even those are a little tight. I lost one glove so after buying S originally, have ended up reordering L size. The fact I've reorded shows the gloves are worthwhile for the price. The gloves are just about flexible enough to use my camera with. The loop is larger than necessary and gets in the way of putting the gloves on at times. I consider the gloves warm enough at around 5°C.

Back of the hand

  • 100% Polyester

How is usage temperature measured?

All our gloves are laboratory tested on a thermal hand. The minimum temperatures for use (recommended and limit) are the result of a study carried out with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h winds. These temperatures are only valid in walking conditions.MT500 gloves are rated for warmth at 1 out of 5.Recommended temperature: 9°CLimit temperature: 4°C

How to properly protect your hands from the cold

In the same way you wear several layers of clothing when trekking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves, that will act as a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system lets several layers of air to form around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold!Remember to wear large enough gloves to avoid your fingers being constricted. Compression reduces blood circulation in the fingers.

How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing

When active, the body generates heat which is preserved thanks to the thermal insulation of your clothing. If the clothing is inadequate, your body cools and the blood flow to the hands and feet drops in order to keep your upper body warm. Your clothing can therefore play a role in keeping your hands warm.

What is the dexterity of a glove?

The dexterity of a glove is its ability to handle objects. Our MT500 gloves were rated in laboratory conditions. The closer the glove's dexterity is to 5, the more the glove can handle objects in the same way as the bare hand. For example, with the MT500 gloves we tested the ability to easily put on and open a jacket, handle bivouac items, drink and eat.MT 500 gloves are rated for dexterity level at 4 out of 5.

Easy to put on

Pull the wrist strap with the opposite hand to put them on quickly and efficiently.

Are these gloves windproof?

MT500 Stretch gloves are not windproof.Did you know that the wind makes you feel colder? With an outdoor temperature of 0°C and a 20 km/h wind, the perceived temperature will be -10°C The windproof components reduce the wind chill resulting from the cooling effect of the wind or apparent wind generated by the sporting activity. We advise you to complete your purchase with our MT500 waterproof and windproof overgloves

Got your liner gloves caught in the rain?

If this happens then dry them in a dry place but avoid placing them on a heat source. This could damage the fibre and they could lose their shape!
