Product Reviews
I needed a replacement for a 10-speed Shimano cassette. I thought a like-for-like replacement was overpriced, so I decided to try this one as this was for my training wheels. It fitted perfectly on my Shimano hub, and shifting is as smooth as with the original. I haven't been able to find any faults yet.
Like all Decathlon products it is well made and robust. Far better than it should be. I repair over 200 bikes a year and use Decathlon spares on almost all occasions. Tyres are a different matter as I like to experiment with various brands. So long as Decathlon keep up the quality I will be back. I currently spend over £1000 a year on Decathlon bicycle spare parts.
This worked smooth with a KMC X10 chain and Shimano 105 (5600) 10 speed shifters. I first tried with my Shimano 6600 chain that had done 1000 miles but it must have been too worn and would not mesh but skipped. Like I said, the KMC X10 chain worked fine with it. The same tool to fit the Shimano cassette fitted these. The lock-ring supplied is a black metal but I used the Shimano one, not from vanity but it looked lighter weight. This is the first time I have strayed away from Shimano gear but I got fed up of spending more per annum keeping my bicycle on the road than my Dad does on his car. I have not tested this cassette yet with many miles but I have no reason to believe it will not last as long as the Shimano ones. Although visibly different metals I do think that this will prove good value for money.
