For this down jacket filled 75/25, the inflating power of the down/feather is guaranteed to be greater than or equal to 540 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.

The swelling and durability of the down gives it 3 qualities for hiking:- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and the feathers - Ultra lightness: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves weight in the backpack - Ultra compressibility * Our feathers come from Chinese ducks raised for their meat, we recover their feathers after slaughter.

The synthetic down (wadding) provides an interesting alternative to the feather:- it provides good thermal insulation even when wet- it provides a little breathability and may be recommended for dynamic activity (down is recommended for static or moderate activity).

The material of this down jacket is water repellent. It allows the drops of water to roll on the fabric which delays the penetration of the water in the down jacket, time for you to get to shelter. But the down jacket is not waterproof. We recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket above the down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.

The X-Light down jacket is made with a fine fabric in order to make it lightweight and compact. Please note that the feathers are slightly visible through the fabric of the red colour version of the range.
