HORSE RIDING ESSENTIALS FOR BEGINNERS

Horse Riding Helmets

You don’t need to have anything expensive in your kit to start horse riding for beginners. You need to make sure you’re 100% dedicated to the sport, before you start investing in equipment and accessories. The first thing you need is a horse riding hat to keep your head protected at all times. Majority of riding schools will have a selection of hats – sometimes called crash helmets - for you to borrow during your lesson. If you are looking to start without spending a lot of money, borrowing a hat is the best way. Find the nearest saddlery where you are located and make sure your hat is fitted by an expert.

Horse Riding Boots

The other non-negotiable piece of kit that you need to start horse-riding is a pair of boots with a small heel. Wellies aren't the best option, as the thick sole can get stuck in the stirrup. A boot with a smooth sole and a small heel – not stiletto – will help you keep your foot in the stirrup, but won’t get stuck in the unfortunate case of a fall.

Horse Riding Clothing

Horse riding requires to be seated comfortably, while also moving along with your horse. This would mean you need to be wearing comfortable, yet firm clothing such as riding gilets, horse riding pants, and gloves. You could consider leggings, jeggings or tracksuit bottoms, so you are able to adjust yourself in the saddle whenever required.

SHOP HORSE RIDING

As you become more accustomed to the experiences of horse riding, you can consider investing in other horse riding clothing accessories such as body protectors, horse riding gloves and jodhpurs, and water proof jackets. Depending on the outdoor conditions and environment, you can equip yourself for a seamless horseback riding experience.
